Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti mentioned the danger of Serbian and Russian influence of the Western Balkans in his speech during the London Defense Conference (London Defense Conference 2024), reported the newspaper “Koha ditore“, quoted by BTA.
Kurti said that Kosovo cooperates with its partners in every sphere, while Serbia – with Russia, China and Iran. He added that Serbia is creating “increasingly close ties with Serbia and China”.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo stated that the arming of Serbia clearly shows its aim to increase tensions in the region, notes “Koha Ditore”.
„Its (Serbia's) relations with Russia, its destructive approach to our republic and its rapid and extensive armament are indicative that it aims to increase tensions in order to realize its territorial ambitions,”, the Kosovo prime minister said.

Mentioning Serbia's 48 operational bases along the border with Kosovo and the deployment of Serbian troops there, Kurti stressed that “The threat is not just in theory. The danger of a new war is real.
Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's declared independence in 2008 and still regards it as its province. The two countries are conducting a dialogue for the normalization of relations under the auspices of the EU.
