The President of France Emmanuel Macron called for more optimism and self-confidence in Europe after being awarded the International Peace Prize for the peace of Westphalia in the city of Münster today, at the end of his three-day official state visit to Germany, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who presented the award, praised the French president as a "passionate European" and thanked him for his affection for neighboring Germany.
Macron's agenda for the rest of the day included a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for talks at the government residence in the Meseberg Palace, north of the capital Berlin, on European competition policy and military cooperation.
