Ukraine should be allowed to strike Russian military targets in Belarus if it is necessary for its defense.
This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, in a comment on Radio Svoboda.
Before the summit of NATO foreign ministers in Prague, he was asked whether the Ukrainian army should strike targets on the territory of Belarus.
"Ukraine must be able to defend itself. If Russia, fearing that targets can be attacked in Russia, can move them somewhere else, then I think the selection of targets should also be moved,'' Landsbergis said.
The use of Western weapons to strike against Russia is supported by the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Poland and Norway.
Italy rules out both using its weapons against Russia and sending troops to Ukraine. Belgium, which will supply Ukraine with F-16s, has said that they can only be used on the country's territory.
