US mounts operation in Polish capital Warsaw to help neighboring Ukraine fight Russian disinformation, the Associated Press reported.
The U.S. State Department's Center for Global Engagement, which works to expose disinformation from hostile states, said the U.S. and Poland jointly established a Ukrainian communications group "to support Ukraine against Russian aggression in the information space."
The new group will bring together allies to coordinate messaging, promote accurate reporting of Russia's full-scale invasion, amplify Ukrainian voices, and expose the Kremlin's manipulation of information.
The US State Department says the Kremlin has repeatedly used lies and manipulation to offer false pretexts for its invasion of Ukraine, to obscure its military objectives and to try to break global solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
Poland is also subject to sabotage and other destructive measures by the Russian secret services.
Poland is a member of NATO. The country is a hub for Western weapons sent to Ukraine. It is also a place of refuge for a significant number of Ukrainian refugees who fled the war.
