The President of the People's Republic of China accepted the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to visit the Republic and take part in the SCO Summit. “From July 2 to 4, 2024, at the invitation of President Kassim-Jomart Tokaev, the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, will pay a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan,”, reported Acorda.
The President of the People's Republic of China will take part in the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State - members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (July 3-4).
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Tajikistan after Kazakhstan.
The last personal meeting between Kassim-Jomart Tokayev and Xi Jinping took place in Beijing in October 2023. Then the President of Kazakhstan was on an official visit to China and took part in the third high-level forum for international cooperation “One Belt, one time“.
On July 3-4, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State - members of the SCO will be held in Astana. About 10,000 foreign delegations are expected at the summit. The participation of 10 participating countries in the organization has been confirmed: India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus (in the status of a member country).
Both a meeting of the council and a meeting in the SCO plus format will be held. The theme of the meeting is “Strengthening the multilateral dialogue – the pursuit of sustainable peace and development”. It will be attended by representatives of Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
