Moscow: France's first-round election results are in line with pan-European trends - 1

The Kremlin said today that the result of the first round of the parliamentary elections in France yesterday confirms the trends already observed in various European countries, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Marine Le Pen's far-right "National Assembly" party won a historic victory in the first round of the French parliamentary elections, but the final result will depend on the alliances that will be formed before the second round on Sunday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow is closely monitoring the French election and believes that the way the first round has gone reflects a pan-European trend.

"We are following the course of these elections very carefully, and the trends that emerged earlier in a number of European countries, including France, are being confirmed," Peskov said. "We will wait for the second round, although the preferences of the French voters are more or less clear to us,", he added.
