Orban's visit to Kiev: Hungarian Prime Minister urged Zelensky to consider the possibility of a quick ceasefire - 1

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called during his visit to Kiev Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to consider the possibility of a quick ceasefire, which could speed up the peace talks, the Hungarian Prime Minister said at a joint press conference with the Ukrainian leader, Reuters reported, as quoted by BTA.

Hungary has expressed great interest in improving its relations with Ukraine. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has emphasized his country's readiness to engage with Ukraine's economic modernization, signaling a move toward closer bilateral ties.

Orban praised Ukraine's peace efforts and called on President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to push for a ceasefire that would pave the way for meaningful peace talks. The Hungarian leader is also looking forward to the signing of a comprehensive bilateral cooperation agreement with Ukraine, which aims to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

During a joint press conference, President Zelensky emphasized the importance of achieving a fair and just peace in Ukraine. He pointed out that Orbán's visit highlights shared European values and the collective aspiration for peace not only in Ukraine, but also on the entire continent.

Zelensky took the opportunity to ask for continued support from Hungary, particularly in maintaining European military aid to Ukraine. This comes after previous cases where Hungary blocked the disbursement of European Union aid to Kiev. The discussions between Orban and Zelensky mark a pivotal moment, reflecting a mutual desire to foster stronger relations and support Ukraine's path to peace and stability.

"For all of us in Europe, it is also very important that European support for Ukraine remains at a sufficient level, including our protection from Russian terror," Zelensky said at the press conference during the visit to Kiev of the Hungarian Prime Minister, known for his closeness to Moscow , whose country yesterday took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, quoted by BTA.
