Viktor Orbán to "Bild": NATO is the strongest military community in the world, Vladimir Putin will by no means attack fi - 1

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with "Bild" that, in his opinion, it is impossible for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attack a NATO country, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

"No serious person can talk about Russia's intention to attack NATO," Orban told "Bild".

An attack on NATO is completely impossible - not only for Russia, but for anyone in the world - as it is by far the strongest military community, Orbán said.

The Hungarian prime minister said that all NATO countries stand behind their pledge of collective security, meaning that an attack on one NATO ally is an attack on all.

Russians have a different history and culture, as well as a different understanding of freedom and national sovereignty than Europeans, said Orban, who met Putin in Moscow last week.

"But they are rational, they are hyper-rational," he said.

In response to the objection that the invasion of Ukraine was not rational, he replied: "Irrationality is different from making an error in a rational calculation.

Orbán praised Trump as a "man of peace".

In view of the US presidential election in November, Orbán said he believes that US President Joe Biden will not re-enter the White House.

He then again heaped praise on Biden's Republican rival, Donald Trump.

"He is a businessman, he is self-made, he has a different approach to everything. And I think this is good for world politics," Orbán said. "Let's not forget that he is a man of peace," Orbán emphasized, adding that Trump has not started a single war during his four years in office.

Orbán was the only prime minister of an EU country to openly declare his support for the Republican even before Trump was elected president in 2016. The two met at Trump's estate "Mar-a-Lago" in March, DPA recalls.
