Switzerland has expanded its sanctions against Russia - 1

Switzerland expanded its sanctions against Russia, reports "Reuters". The country included additional measures recently taken by the European Union against Moscow because of its continued aggression against Ukraine, quoted by News.bg.

In connection with the package of measures adopted by the EU against Russia on June 24, the Swiss Ministry of Economy announced that it will impose sanctions within its jurisdiction on a further 69 individuals and 86 organizations.

These sanctions are mainly aimed at "businessmen, propagandists, members of the armed forces and the judiciary, persons responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children", as well as members of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).

The department specifies that among the newly sanctioned entities there are companies working in Russia's defense industry and companies in the financial and commercial sectors involved in circumventing sanctions.

This means that more than 2,200 individuals and legal entities are already included in the sanctions lists, the ministry states.

"This is in line with the EU,", the statement added.

The Swiss government said it had imposed an advertising ban on the media "Voice of Europe", RIA Novosti, "Izvestia" and "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" "due to Russia's continuous propaganda and disinformation campaigns".

Unlike the EU, these media are not subject to a broadcast ban in Switzerland, adds the ministry.

The new measures take effect from today.
