Russia cannot cope with Ukraine and its only strategy is to destroy it, Jarosław Kraszewski, a Polish military expert and former commander of the missile and artillery troops of the Polish Land Forces, said in an interview with Ukrinform, commenting on the recent US decision to prioritize deliveries of air defense missiles to Ukraine and redirect orders from other countries to meet Ukraine's needs, BTA writes.
At the Washington summit, NATO countries should think about how to help Ukraine, because in a long war of attrition, the country may simply not have enough people, he stressed.
"The US-led world has finally understood after ten years - after all the war has been going on since 2014 - that Russia cannot cope with Ukraine. Moreover, Moscow does not actually have a strategy for Ukraine. Its only strategy is the complete destruction of Ukraine. In the name of this, since about mid-March 2022, Russia has been destroying civilian infrastructure, killing innocent people who have absolutely nothing to do with this war, and the worst thing is that children are dying", Kraszewski said.
According to him, now the West has finally understood that "if this kind of war continues - and there are much fewer Ukrainians than Russians - the war of attrition can last for a year and a half, and then Russia's complete dominance in Ukraine can occur".
"I hope that NATO leaders will discuss this topic in detail at the summit in Washington", the Polish expert emphasized. "Europe needs to have a discussion and find a solution to the question: what will happen if there are not enough people in Ukraine? Not missiles, launchers or planes, but people, because people win wars, not machines", the expert said.
The Ukrainians will win this war, but the West must help them, Krashevsky believes. "That is why this decision of the US government is important, but very late, and the delay cost the lives of many people", the expert said.
He called Washington's reluctance to decisively support Ukraine from the very beginning a strategic mistake, especially in the context of US President Joe Biden's statement that "American troops will never set foot on Ukrainian soil while the war is going on". According to him, this gave Putin "the green light" to do whatever it wants in Ukraine.
"Now we have evidence that unfortunately this is not a classic war, but actions of the Russian Federation for the complete destruction of Ukraine," the Polish expert states.
On July 8, Russia struck the "Okhmatik" children's hospital in Kiev, where children from all over Ukraine are being treated. Many countries have already condemned this crime, and the UN Security Council is expected to hold a special meeting on this issue today.
