Pursuit Continues: Russia Wants Yulia Navalnaya on Charges of Participating in an Extremist Group - 1

A Moscow court has issued an arrest warrant for Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of the late Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, for her alleged involvement in an extremist group. According to the order, Navalnaya must be detained in pre-trial detention for two months, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The court accused Navalnaya, who lives outside Russia, of participating in "extremist" group. The decision means she will be arrested if she returns to the country.

"Yulia B. Navalnaya is accused of committing a crime under Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an extremist community). Yulia Borisovna hid from the authorities of the preliminary investigation, in connection with which she was declared wanted. The court accepted the investigation's request and chose a remand measure in the form of detention for a period of two months, the court announced.

The term will be calculated from the moment Navalnaya is extradited to the territory of the Russian Federation or from the moment she is detained in the territory of the country, notes the Russian news agency TASS.
