Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has already taken significant damage during the first 12 days of his country's rotating presidency of the EU, said the German Foreign Ministry, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.

„We have to see how the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the EU will continue,”, a ministry spokesman said in response to a question about how Berlin would respond to Orban's recent diplomatic trips, including to Russia and China.

„It is now the twelfth day and it has already caused a lot of damage,” the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, the German government said it was taking very seriously warnings of an assassination plot against the CEO of the arms company “Rheinmetal“ and will not succumb to Russian intimidation.

Yesterday, CNN and the “New York Times” reported that US intelligence had uncovered a Russian plot to assassinate Armin Paperger, the executive director of the company that produces artillery ammunition and military vehicles for Ukraine.

The plot is the latest in a series of Russian assassination plots against senior defense industry figures in Europe who are supporting Ukraine in the war, CNN reported. According to the media, Washington informed Germany, and the German authorities managed to protect Paperger.

„We will not allow ourselves to be intimidated by Russia and will continue to do everything necessary to protect Germany from Russian threats,” said Interior Minister Nancy Feser.
