ISW: Moscow is ready to consider Tehran's proposals - 1

As noted by analysts at the US-based Institute for study of war (ISW) in its daily roundup, Russia and Iran continue their commitment to deepen bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation.

On July 12, newly elected Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian published an article in the Tehran Times newspaper in which Pezeshkian praised China and Russia for their support for Iran in "difficult times".

Pezeshkiyan called Russia a "valuable strategic ally and neighbor" of Iran and stated that his government will continue to expand bilateral cooperation with Russia, as well as cooperation through international alliances, including BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Pezeshkian said Iran "seeks peace" between Russia and Ukraine and is ready to support initiatives aimed at achieving peace.

Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexei Dedov said in an interview with RIA Novosti published on July 13 that Russia is ready to consider proposals for peace mediation by Iran, even though Russian President Vladimir Putin recently dismissed the possibility of any third-party mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine.

Dedov said that Russia will follow the same strategic course in relations with Iran that existed during the presidency of Ebrahim Raisi, and that the two countries will sign an agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership in the "foreseeable future", ISW analysts noted.
