Congressman Adam Schiff, a Democrat from the state of California who is running for the US Senate, warned donors in a private meeting that his party looks set to suffer a heavy defeat if President Joe Biden continues his campaign, wrote in. " New York Times" quoted by BTA.
"If he is our nominee, I think we will lose," Schiff was quoted as saying by the US newspaper, citing a source with access to the tape of a fund-raising event last Saturday in New York.

"And it is entirely, entirely possible that we lose the Senate, as well as lose our chances of taking back the House,", Schiff also said, according to the source.
Reuters noted that a Schiff campaign spokesman had not yet responded to a request for comment.
At least 19 Democrats from both houses of the US Congress have publicly called on Biden to end his campaign after his shaky performance in a debate against former President Donald Trump last month. However, Biden has repeatedly stated that he intends to stay in the race.
Republicans now have a 220-213 majority in the House of Representatives, and Democrats have a 51-49 majority in the Senate.
