Unconfirmed rumors appeared on Chinese social media that Chinese leader Xi Jinping suffered a stroke during a plenum of the Chinese Communist Party.
The information was immediately disseminated in Russian-language media and social networks. There is no evidence or credible data that Xi Jinping suffered a stroke.
The information was first reported by Jennifer Zeng, a human rights activist who has been repressed by the Chinese authorities and sent to labor camps several times.
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, asked on the social network X: “I wonder why the Russians are spreading these unverified rumors?”
Journalist Simone Gao wrote: "When the party holds big conferences, it is common for them to allow video and photo coverage only on the last day, when everything is settled. Previously only text reports were available. Therefore, it is normal for Xi and other CCP leaders to be absent from the media for several days during the meeting.
