Poland urges EU: Lift ban on Ukrainian military striking targets in Russia - 1

Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslav Sikorski called on EU countries to allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike Russia.

The PAP revealed that during an address to EU foreign ministers, he said lifting the ban would allow Ukraine to reach airports where Russian planes take off. During the conversation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba "recognized the difficult situation in Ukraine", the minister announced.

"This would be full-fledged self-defense, legal from the point of view of international law. Protecting children's oncology hospitals is not an escalation," he added.

Ukraine has asked its allies to lift the ban on strikes with Western weapons so it can strike military sites and airfields on Russian territory.

In the spring, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the time had come to lift the ban on Ukraine so that it could defend itself effectively.

Subsequently, a number of member states of the North Atlantic Alliance announced that they are not against the use of their weapons against the Russian Federation.

Washington also lifted the ban, but only partially.
