The Romanian military is discovered metal fragments on the territory of the country, which may be parts of Russian drones, reports the portal Digi24, citing sources from the Romanian armed forces.
According to Digi24, the debris was found near the town of Plauru, located on the Danube River. On the opposite bank of the river is the Ukrainian city of Izmail, which was hit by Russian drones on Thursday morning.
Agence France-Presse writes that residents of Romania heard explosions and the country's army began searching for debris. According to the media, on Thursday night, residents of 17 settlements in the Plauru region received emergency warning messages on their mobile phones after several objects were detected that were "approaching the northern regions of the country".
The Romanian Ministry of Defense later confirmed that debris from a Russian kamikaze drone was found near the town of Plauru, located near the border with Ukraine.
In a message published on the website of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, it is said that specialists from the department have found debris at one of three possible crash sites of Russian drones.
They have been identified as fragments of a "Geran" - 1/2, the report says.
According to media reports, the unmanned aircraft "Geran" is an analogue of the "Shaheed" type unmanned aircraft, which Russia first received from Iran, and then began to produce independently.
The Romanian military continues to search for debris in other areas.
"We emphasize that all the places identified as possible incidents are located outside populated areas and there are no infrastructure elements there,", writes the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
On Thursday morning, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that during the night Russia attacked Ukraine with 38 Shahed-131/136 attack drones, in particular the southern part of Odesa region and the central regions of Ukraine have been attacked.
The Ukrainian military claims that they managed to shoot down 25 of the 38 drones, and three more were "lost on the spot after crossing the state border with Romania". Russia did not comment on this information.
