Egypt has informed Israel and Iran that it will not be part of the escalation process in the region after the assassination of the political leader of the Palestinian movement “Hamas” Ismail Hania, the Qatari newspaper "Al Arabi al Jadeed" reported, quoted by BTA.
Cairo has informed Tehran that it will close its airspace to any military action that would threaten regional security and that this measure should not be seen as a hostile attitude towards Iran, but as a way to protect Egypt's interests and sovereignty .
Egyptian authorities have also confirmed to a high-ranking Israeli delegation visiting Cairo on Saturday for indirect talks with US and Egyptian negotiators that the country will not be part of a regional military coalition to stop a potential Iranian retaliation against Israel.
In April this year Iran's first-ever direct attack on Israel with about three hundred drones and missiles was repelled by a coalition with the help of the United States, allied countries such as France and Great Britain, but also Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian attack was in response to a strike on Iran's consulate in Damascus that killed senior members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
