Ukraine today condemned Mali's decision to cut diplomatic relations between the two countries as short-sighted and hasty. She pointed out that there is no evidence to indicate that Kiev played a role in the fighting that killed Malian soldiers and Russian mercenaries from PMC "Wagner" last month, Reuters reported, citing BTA.
"The decision of the Transitional Government of the Republic of Mali to break diplomatic relations with Ukraine is short-sighted and hasty," said a statement on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, as quoted by AFP.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry released a statement on its website after Bamako announced yesterday that it was immediately cutting diplomatic ties with Kiev following statements by Ukrainian military intelligence about fighting in northern Mali late last month.
"It is regrettable that /.../ Mali decided to cut off /.../ relations /.../ without conducting a full review of the facts surrounding the incident /.../ and without providing evidence of involvement of Ukraine in the specified events", said the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
