At the end of July, American publications reported, that Russia did something unprecedented: the Russian Defense Minister contacted the Pentagon urgently, informing Washington that Ukraine was preparing an attack on Russia (at the time it was not specified what).
It is a real rarity for Russia's defense minister to talk to the Pentagon, especially on his own accord. On the initiative of the Russian side, a telephone conversation took place between the Russian Minister of Defense Andrei Belousov and the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin. The Russian representative has warned the US that “Ukraine is preparing a covert operation against Russia” which will increase tensions and may lead to escalation.
Now it has become clear what kind of operation it is. Russian state television reported that Russia suspected Ukraine of a planned attack on the Day of the Russian Navy, when a naval parade was held in St. Petersburg, which was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters reported. The parade was last month.
Moscow has even contacted Washington in connection with these suspicions, adds the television quoted by BTA.
The media emphasizes that the details of this information are a state secret. She quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. He says Russia's concerns were so great that Defense Minister Andrei Belousov contacted US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin about those suspicions. Reuters cannot yet confirm the information from an independent source.
