Unfortunately, the army remains without people. Ukrainians must understand that we must win this war, because the future of our country depends on it.
This was stated to Suspilne Ukraine by a Ukrainian military man with the call sign "Martin", who gave an interview on the condition of anonymity. He is disappointed with Ukrainians who are “tired“ from the war and say that they do not want to fight and what is happening at the front does not affect them.
The military man with the call sign “Martin“ has been defending his country since 2014, when the Russian aggressor illegally annexed Crimea and attacked areas in eastern Ukraine. He is currently fighting in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine, his rank is junior sergeant.
When asked how he decided to join the security forces back in 2014, the military man said it was wrong to stand by while the Russian army wanted to destroy his land and the future of his wife and children. According to him, the full-scale war that is being fought now is very different from the one in Donbas since 2014.
There are now many drones, powerful missiles and artillery that were not used on such a scale years ago. According to the serviceman, the main thing in planning offensive actions is intelligence: “If there is no intelligence information or if it is of poor quality, outdated or untimely, then planning operations or assault actions is impossible. If intelligence is not relevant, it can lead to loss of life.“
„Martin“ noted that he had repeatedly heard of how civilians and volunteers were war-weary. He answered them thus: if you do not feed your own army, you will feed another's. He added that Ukrainians must win this war. According to him, the further future of the country depends on this, because Russia does not want peace in Ukraine, but to destroy Ukraine.
Kiev has long delayed the announcement of a large-scale mobilization of the Armed Forces because of the political consequences of such a decision. However, a law was recently passed and it is believed (the exact numbers are kept a state secret) that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians will soon be heading to the front. This is happening against the background of the Western F-16 fighter jets that have already arrived in Ukraine.
