The Ukrainian agency UNIAN confirmed the news that Bulgarian soldiers will be involved in the training of servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (ZSU) as part of a NATO initiative.

The Council of Ministers officially announced in its decision that the cabinet has allowed the participation of Bulgarian military personnel in the training of Ukrainian military personnel on the territory of NATO member countries.
The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to allow the participation of servicemen from the armed forces of the Republic of Bulgaria in the NATO operation to assist Ukraine in the field of security and training (NATO SECURITY ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING FOR UKRAINE - NSATU) on the territory of the member countries of the Alliance .
With the adoption of this Decision, our country gives a clear sign of its commitment in supporting Ukraine, defending Euro-Atlantic values and strengthening its union solidarity to common efforts in support of international peace and security. Considering the proximity of the conflict to our border and its importance for security in Europe, our country's contribution to the NSATU operation is in line with the efforts of the other member states of the Alliance.
The decision clearly states that the training will take place on NATO territory and not in Ukraine. Bulgaria will not send its military personnel to Ukrainian territory. Russian propaganda is trying to convince the population of the opposite. NATO has made it clear since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine that it will only assist the attacked country with weapons and ammunition, not ground forces. So far, no decision has been made to the contrary.
