During the three days of fighting in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian armed forces captured “hundreds“ people. This was stated by an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a comment for The Washington Post on condition of anonymity.
According to him, Ukrainian forces have captured about 100 square kilometers of territory in the region. The adviser also claimed that the Ukrainian armed forces had captured the gas measuring station "Suja", through which gas is transited to Europe via Ukraine.
The newspaper notes, citing open sources, that about a thousand Ukrainian soldiers “from elite assault brigades with American and German armored vehicles and tanks” are participating in the offensive in the Kursk region.
The Ukrainian offensive was “more successful than many officials in Kiev expected”, the newspaper said. Kiev is now asking Washington to allow Ukraine's armed forces to use long-range ATACMS missiles to attack airfields used by Russian planes to launch retaliatory strikes. The Russian Ministry of Defense and the Kremlin did not comment on information about captured Russian soldiers. The ZSU offensive is also putting pressure on Putin's rule because Russians now realize that he cannot protect them even in their own homes.
