Ukrainian special forces attacked Russian-occupied Kinburn Strip today hair in the Black Sea, Reuters reported, referring to information from the Ukrainian military intelligence, writes BTA.
Ukrainian forces say they have destroyed six Russian armored vehicles, killing around 30 servicemen.
In “Telegram” the channel of the Ukrainian intelligence, quoted by the Unian agency, specifies that military personnel from four divisions participated in the landing, in cooperation with the naval forces and other parts of the Ukrainian army.
Russian troops seized the Kinburn Spit, which juts into the Black Sea, in Mykolaiv Oblast in southern Ukraine, at the start of a full-scale invasion in February 2022.
According to the chairman of the military administration of Mykolaiv region Vitaly Kim, the control of the Kinburn spit allows the Russian forces to block the work of the ports.
The Russian Defense Ministry said, as quoted by the Interfax news agency, that the Ukrainian attack was repulsed, with some Ukrainian forces encountering landmines and the rest of the military being shot with firearms. According to Moscow, Kiev has lost 16 "saboteurs" during the operation.
Ukrainian forces today also invaded the Russian-occupied Tendrovo Spit, another Black Sea area south of the Kinburn Spit, as part of the same operation, Reuters added.
