Governor of Russia's Kursk Oblast Alexei Smirnov said today that Ukraine controls 28 settlements in the border area and that Kiev's forces entered 12 km into Russian territory during the invasion that began on August 6, Reuters reported, as quoted by NTA.
Smirnov said Ukrainian forces used chemical weapons shells during their incursion there, Russian media reported.
It is unclear whether Smirnov has provided any evidence to support the charge, which Reuters was unable to verify.
