Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham called the "brilliant" and "daring" the strike operation of Ukraine in the Russian Kursk region across the border, reported Reuters.
During a visit to Kiev today, Graham called on President Joe Biden's government to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs.
Amid ongoing Russian efforts to push back Ukrainian forces seven days after their invasion, the commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, said Kiev controls about 1,000 sq km in Kursk Oblast.
Graham made his comments during a visit to Kiev with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal.
"What do I think of Kursk? Bold, brilliant, beautiful. Keep up the good work,'' he told reporters and urged the US government to ``give them the weapons they need to win the war they can't afford to lose.''
At the meeting with the Senate delegation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the US for its support. "We discussed exactly what is needed to bring this war to a just end, including the need to use long-range weapons," he later noted in a post on the "X" network.
