The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that a Russian Su-34 military aircraft was destroyed in Kursk region.
Kiev announced that the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had hit an enemy Su-34 fighter-bomber. “The work to liquidate the occupiers, their equipment and weapons continues unceasingly”, announced the Ukrainians, who on August 6 carried out an unexpected invasion of the Russian Kursk region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that his country's armed forces continue to advance in Russia's Kursk region and have advanced one to two kilometers in different directions since the beginning of the day.
Ukrainian state television broadcast today a report on how Ukrainian soldiers took down the Russian flag from an administrative building in the city of Suja in Russia's Kursk region, Reuters reported, BTA reported. The video, which the media said was shot today, shows a three-story building in the border town of Suja and three Ukrainian soldiers picking up and tearing down the Russian flag, chanting "Glory to Ukraine".
A Ukrainian state television envoy in Suja said Ukrainian forces have full control of the city, which is a key gas distribution hub. In the early hours of August 6, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers stormed across the border into Russia's Kursk region. Russian armed forces have so far failed to drive them out after more than a week of intense fighting, Reuters notes. The video also shows a column of burnt-out Russian cars at the entrance to Suja. Empty streets with intact shops and administrative buildings were also shown.
