The commander of the Chechen special unit "Ahmat" gave the information to Russian state television, the agency specifies, which makes the stipulation that his claims have not been independently verified.

Alaudinov also told the RIA Novosti agency that Ukrainian forces do not have full control over the city of Suja in the Kursk region. The complex of pipelines and gas metering points in Suja is the last transmission node for Russian natural gas before the pipeline leaves the country's borders.

According to the Chechen commander, quoted by TASS, his fighters have made "very good fortifications" and "protect settlements".

Acting governor of the Kursk region Alexei Smirnov said today that a Ukrainian missile was shot down by Russian air defenses in the region's city of Lgov, Reuters reported. Two local residents were injured by the falling debris from the rocket, added Smirnov.
