Kyiv reports to Washington: The offensive continues! - 1

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky said today that he discussed the operation in Kursk region, southern Russia, with the highest American military, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

"I informed my American colleague about the changes in the operational and strategic situation and we discussed the current and most critical needs of the Ukrainian forces for weapons and military equipment," he wrote in "Telegram" Sirsky after his phone call with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown Jr.

Ukraine's top military officer meanwhile reported via video conference to President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had advanced 1 to 3 kilometers in Kursk Oblast. He specifically mentioned fighting in the area of Malaya Loknya - a village in Suzhansky district 11.5 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

These claims have not been independently verified.

Yesterday Zelensky announced that the Ukrainian army has established full control over the town of Suja, about 7 kilometers south of Malaya Loknya.

According to Sirsky's data, since Thursday, Ukraine has captured a total of 82 settlements and 1,150 square kilometers of territory in the Kursk region.

The area of the Russian region is nearly 30 thousand square kilometers.

"In general, the situation is under control, everything is going according to plan," Sirsky reported to Zelensky today.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces expressed hope that the battles at Malaya Loknya will provide an opportunity to capture many Russian soldiers, which in turn will speed up the exchange of prisoners of war between the two sides in the conflict.

Earlier, the Ukrainian army announced that it had taken hundreds of prisoners since the start of its offensive in the Kursk region.

Syrsky also reported to Zelensky that intense fighting continues in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, specifically in the area of the cities of Toretsk and Pokrovsk.
