Heavy shooting in Novi Pazar! Commandos eliminated Wahhabi leader in Sanjak - 1

Serbian special anti-terrorist squad officers killed the leader of the Wahhabis in the Muslim-populated Serbian region of Sanjak Senad Ramovic-Betsan. According to Serbian media, he was killed during an arrest attempt in the territory of the city of Novi Pazar. Ramovic allegedly refused to surrender and fired at Serbian special forces, Serbian RTS TV reported.

Ramović has been on the run since June of this year, when a member of this movement shot a policeman with a crossbow in front of the Israeli embassy in Belgrade. After this incident, the police also searched Ramovic's apartment, where weapons and an Islamic State flag were found. It is believed that after this attack he fled to Kosovo, where he had associates.

Senad Ramovic was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison for terrorism, with a large part of the sentence spent in solitary confinement, reported "N1". He was arrested with 14 associates after an armed shootout with the police near Novi Pazar in 2007. He was also accused of planning the assassination of the then Mufti Muammar Zukorlic. After his release from prison, Ramovic was considered the leader of the Wahhabis in Sanjak.

The city of Novi Pazar is the center of the Sandžak region and many Bosniaks and Turkish ethnic minorities live there.
