A sharp change in weather has started in Greece from the northern parts of the country. Heavy rains have already caused floods, BNR reported.
At the same time, the fire warning remains. The weather change began that night. Heavy rains with hail flooded the streets of the cities of Ioannina, Kozani, Veria and Thessaloniki. There are flooded ground floors, shops and cars washed away.
Fifteen fires were ignited by lightning yesterday, reports the Minister of Disaster Protection Kikilyas. Today, the danger of fires continues to be high in Northern Greece, as well as on the islands in the Ionian Sea, Civil Protection informs.
After several cases of dead tourists struck by lightning at sea, authorities are warning against entering the sea during storms. They also recommend limiting travel during extreme weather events. According to the forecasters, the storms and rains will continue for only two days - today and tomorrow.
