A Southern Arizona man has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against Donald Trump on social media , authorities said. This happened on the same day that the former head of state and Republican candidate for the November elections was in the area to visit the US-Mexico border, the Associated Press reported, BTA reported.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Ronald Lee Sayrud, 66, of Benson Township. The settlement is in the same county as the border area that Trump visited yesterday afternoon and where his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, has been visiting in recent weeks.

The sheriff's office said Sayrud was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Details of the alleged threats and the arrest were not released. The sheriff's office said Sayrud was also wanted on several outstanding warrants in Wisconsin for driving while intoxicated and failure to appear in court, on charges of hit-and-run and fleeing the scene in Graham County, Arizona, and for failing to has registered as a sex offender in Coconino County, Arizona.

Trump survived an assassination attempt on July 13. On Wednesday, in his first outdoor rally since the assassination attempt, he gave a speech behind bulletproof glass in North Carolina that focused on national security.
