At the same time, in a letter to the IAEA, the Ukrainian government informed that the country had to temporarily stop four reactors because of the Russian airstrikes, DPA reported. The International Atomic Energy Agency published the letter, as requested by Ukraine, but has not yet commented on the subject, DPA notes.

During the intensive Russian air attack on Monday, reactors 1, 3 and 4 of the Rovno nuclear power plant had to be shut down, which was done in the morning. Due to fluctuations in the network, another reactor of the plant was shut down in the afternoon.

The Russian Federation continues to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, seeking to disrupt the country's nuclear power plants, which provide the majority of Ukraine's electricity needs, the Ukrainian government's letter said.

Russia has already destroyed or damaged with airstrikes many hydroelectric plants in Ukraine, as well as those that ran on coal and gas. No attacks have been carried out against Ukraine's nuclear power plants, but the facilities are affected by fluctuations in the power grid, DPA says.

Ukraine's largest nuclear power plant – The Zaporizhzhia NPP is occupied by the Russian army and has been shut down.

The International Atomic Energy Agency calls on both parties to the conflict not to endanger nuclear facilities.
