Thousands of French protested across the country following the far-left's call against the policy of President Emmanuel Macron and the appointment of the new prime minister from the right, Michel Barnier, BNR reported.

The march of Emmanuel Macron's opponents took off in Paris early Saturday afternoon.

Among the protesters is the leader of the far-left party "Disobedient France" Jean-Luc Mélenchon, chief organizer of the rally.

Protesters chant "Resign" for the president, who refused to appoint a prime minister from the left, despite being the first parliamentary force, because of the lack of consensus between the party groups in the parliament.

"The appointment of Michel Barnier as prime minister does not correspond either to the popular vote or to the forces in the National Assembly," one of the trade union leaders in the procession commented to the media.

"Macron preferred to be under the tutelage of the extreme right,", the president of the Socialists, Olivier Faure, said in the morning on the occasion of the statement of the leader of the nationalists, Jordan Bardela, that "nothing can be done" without them.

Meanwhile, the new prime minister continues consultations to form a government with the broadest possible political agreement. Left forces have completely ruled out participating in it.
