< strong>The heads of the CIA and Britain's MI-6 intelligence service said that standing up to Russia and “staying the course” regarding Ukraine, it is now more important than ever, as quoted by Focus.

The article by CIA Director William Burns and his MI-6 colleague Richard Moore, published in the Financial Times, is the first instance of co-authorship between the heads of these services. In it, they emphasize that the two agencies “stand side by side against Russia and Putin's aggressive war against Ukraine”.

„Staying the course vis-à-vis Ukraine is more important than ever. Putin will not be able to destroy Ukraine's sovereignty and independence, they said, adding that their services would continue to provide assistance to Ukrainian intelligence.

Burns and Moore also described the progress of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region as a “significant achievement” and urged Kiev's allies not to succumb to threats of escalation coming from Russia.

CIA Director Burns noted that the operation of the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region revealed the vulnerable places in the Russian army. He emphasized the importance of being aware of the risk of escalation, while urging “not to be afraid“ from the Russian “arms rattle“.

The article also draws attention to the “campaign of provocations” of Russia in Europe and the “cynical use of technology to spread lies and disinformation” aimed at bringing division among European states. Moore stressed that Russian spies are acting increasingly desperate and reckless. “Russian intelligence seems a little crazy,”, he notes.

In addition, Burns highlighted the defense cooperation between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea, which he says poses a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to Western allies in the Middle East.
