Tehran again denied: We do not supply ballistic missiles to the Russian army - 1

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said on Wednesday that Tehran has not supplied ballistic missiles to Russia and that sanctions imposed by the United States and European powers will not solve problems in relations between them. Reuters quoted his statement.

"Once again, the US and the three European countries (E3) are acting on the basis of faulty information and logic. Iran has NOT supplied ballistic missiles to Russia. Point... Sanctions are not a solution, but part of the problem," wrote Arakchi in a post at X.

The US, along with Britain, Germany and France (E3), announced new sanctions against Iran on Tuesday, targeting Iran's national airline Iran Air and other entities over alleged military cooperation with Russia.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran and was likely to use them in Ukraine within weeks. According to him, this cooperation between Moscow and Tehran represents a serious threat to the security of Europe.

For its part, the Kremlin also rejected claims of missile deliveries from Iran, calling them "groundless".

The new sanctions against Iran and Russia come at a time of escalating conflict in Ukraine. Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited Kiev for key meetings with Ukrainian officials as part of Western efforts to support Ukraine.
