The US Department of Defense awarded the American company "Raytheon" (Raytheon) contract worth nearly $1.2 billion to produce air-to-air missiles type AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile), including for Bulgaria, BTA reported.
This was stated in a statement published by the press service of the Pentagon. According to the information, the contract, which has a total value of $1,195,985,081, provides for the production of AMRAAM missiles and related equipment in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by January 31, 2027.
This contract includes unclassified foreign military sales to Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
The missiles can be used on F-16 fighter jets, which Bulgaria expects to receive from the US.
