Israel will face a “crushing response from the axis of resistance”, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Hossein Salami told the leader of “Hezbollah&rdquo today ; Hassan Nasrallah, state media reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
„Axis of resistance“ refers to Iran-linked armed groups in the Middle East, including Lebanon's Hezbollah, Yemen's Houthi rebels, and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces.
Lebanon and “Hezbollah“ blamed Israel for the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, in which blasts on pagers and radios killed 37 people and injured about 3,000. Israel has so far not commented on the attacks, which security sources say were carried out by its Mossad foreign intelligence agency.
„Such terrorist acts are undoubtedly the result of the desperation and failures of the Zionist regime (Israel). He will soon face a crushing response from the axis of resistance and witness the destruction of this bloodthirsty criminal regime,” Salami said in his message to Nasrallah.
Iran and Israel have frequently threatened each other with the destruction of their regimes, following decades of tension that peaked after Iran launched drones and missiles at Israel in April. The attack followed an Israeli airstrike against Tehran's embassy complex in Syria, Reuters recalls.
For his part, Nasrallah said in a statement today that the deadly attacks, which blew up pagers and radios of “Hezbollah” have “crossed red lines” and “may be called a declaration of war”.
