Eight iconic bells are returning to “Notre Dame” months before the opening of the restored cathedral, which was devastated by a fire in 2019, reported Aleteia.org.

The eight enormous bells, the largest weighing four tons, require a convoy of trucks to transport. The bells will first be consecrated in a special ceremony before being put back in place.

The famous cathedral is expected to reopen with a special ceremony on December 8. Although most of the church is the same, it will now be equipped with all the modern fire protection technology it needs.

After five years of extensive renovations involving 250 companies and hundreds of craftsmen, the cathedral should officially open its doors in December, according to AFP. The fire that devastated the cathedral broke out on April 15, 2019. The eight bells bear the names of people important to "Notre Dame" - "Jean-Marie" is dedicated to Jean-Marie Lustiger, Archbishop of Paris from 1981 to 2005.
