Warning sirens sounded this morning in Israel's economic capital Tel Aviv as a surface-to-surface missile was intercepted by air defense systems , after she was intercepted crossing from Lebanon, the Israeli military said.
There were no reports of damage or casualties, Reuters reported. The military said there was no change in civil defense instructions for central Israel.
Warning sirens were also activated in other areas of central Israel, including the city of Netanya.
In recent days, the Iran-backed “Hezbollah” in Lebanon fired hundreds of rockets at Israel amid the escalation of the months-long conflict across the border with southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military is carrying out its heaviest airstrikes this week, targeting Hezbollah leaders. Hundreds of targets deep inside Lebanon were struck, killing more than 500 people and injuring over 1,800.
A strike in Beirut yesterday killed Ibrahim Qubaisi, a senior Hezbollah commander who headed the group's missile forces.
