The head of the general staff of the Israeli army stated today that the army is preparing for a possible ground operation in Lebanon, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
Addressing soldiers on the northern border, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said that the latest Israeli airstrikes are aimed at "preparing the ground for your eventual entry and continuing to weaken Hezbollah.
"You hear the planes overhead; we are striking all day long,” General Halevi told soldiers on the border with Lebanon. "This is both to prepare the ground for your eventual entry, and to continue the weakening of ``Hezbollah,'' Reuters quoted him as saying.
Halevi also indicated that work continues to fulfill the goal of returning the displaced citizens of northern Israel to their homes.
