Former US President Donald Trump, who now is fighting for a new term in the White House, sharply attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his refusal to conclude an agreement with the Russian aggressor, FT and Al Jazeera reported.
The Republican said that even the “worst deal” now would be better than the death and destruction at the front. Speaking at a campaign rally in North Carolina, Trump said Ukraine would never be able to get back its “many dead people” and the cities destroyed in the war.
„These cities are gone. They are gone and we continue to give billions of dollars to a man who refused to make a deal, Zelensky,”, Trump said. Thus, he calls on Kiev to give up the occupied territories occupied by the Russian army, which are nearly 1/5 of the country's area (including Crimea and a large part of Donbass).
„You have a country that has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. It will take hundreds of years to rebuild it, there is not enough money even if the whole world comes together,” Trump said at the rally.
Ukrainian leader Zelensky said a few days ago that the Republican candidate “doesn't really know how to stop the war, even if he thinks he does”. Zelensky also described Trump's Vice President JD Vance as “too radical”. Trump had previously said that if he was re-elected as president, he would stop the war between Russia and Ukraine “in 24 hours”.
However, Trump did not reveal how he plans to do this. According to analysts, he could force Kiev to give up its lands occupied by Russia. In return, he will threaten Putin that if he does not stop the war immediately, he will arm the Ukrainian army with unprecedented weapons.
