Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan refused to attend the reception given by US President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden in honor of the heads of state and government and their wives on the occasion of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Turkish news site Haberler reports.
No reasons were given for Erdogan's decision. It was initially planned that the Turkish leader would attend the reception.
Last night, however, it became known that the Turkish head of state refused to go to the dinner. He came out of the so-called “Turkish House” in New York, after which he left for the airport.
Erdogan arrived in Istanbul this morning, reports CNN-Turk.
Haberler points out that in an interview with American television NBC yesterday, the Turkish president once again criticized the United States and other Western countries for their position towards Israel.
