Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi rebels said that as a sign of support for Gaza and Lebanon, they attacked the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon with missiles and drones, as well as three American destroyers (destroyer squadron - note ed.) in the Red Sea, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The Israeli military said it intercepted a rocket fired from Yemen after sirens sounded.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria said operations will not stop until Israel ends its offensives in Gaza and Lebanon.
The group attacked Tel Aviv with a ballistic missile, and Ashkelon in southern Israel – with a drone, said Sareya.
„We will conduct more military operations against the Israeli enemy for the blood of our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon,” he added in a televised speech.
In a separate televised address, Saria added that the group simultaneously attacked three US Navy destroyers in the Red Sea with 23 ballistic and cruise missiles while the warships were sailing on the high seas to assist Israel.
The US military has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Since Monday, Israeli strikes have killed more than 600 people in Lebanon, and the conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed armed group “Hezbollah” is at its most acute point in over 18 years.
For nearly a year “Hezbollah” fires rockets at Israel in support of the allied armed group “Hamas”, which is fighting Israel in Gaza.
