EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell has today convened an extraordinary informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU member states, at which the reaction of the European Union to the escalated tension in Lebanon will be discussed, an EU spokesman said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said Iran would not leave unanswered any of the "criminal acts" of Israel, referring to the assassination of the leader of the Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah and to Iranian Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, deputy commander of operations of the elite corps of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
On this background, it became clear that most likely the Bulgarians in Lebanon will be evacuated by two flights of the government plane. Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov said this today in Varna. He specified that representatives of the armed forces are also involved in the preparations for the repatriation of our compatriots. According to Zapryanov, coordination is also carried out at the international level, as well as at the NATO level, since the realization of such flights is complicated. The most important thing is for the evacuation to be safe, the minister emphasized. He added that the armed forces have not yet been tasked with flying to Lebanon with military aircraft. According to him, the lists of people who will be evacuated are still being specified.
