The president of Israel called on the international community to achieve calm in the region by stopping Iran, reports the "Times of Israel".
"We are facing challenges arising from the evil empire of Tehran, and that is why we are fighting," Yitzhak Herzog pointed out when receiving the letters of credence of the new ambassadors of Sweden, Slovakia, Belgium, Switzerland and Papua New Guinea.
He pointed out that Israel Defense Forces troops are in Lebanon "to change the equation and enable a better life, above all for Israeli citizens at the border, so as to allow them to return to their homes si".
"And secondly, of course, I think there is an opportunity for the people of Lebanon to have a better future without the oppression of ``Hezbollah,'' he continued. "And most importantly, the international community is called upon to be extremely proactive in blocking Iran's efforts to destabilize the region and enable a better future for it.
Herzog called on the international community "to bring calm to our border with Lebanon to allow our citizens to return to their homes, bring a better future for the people of Lebanon and bring our hostages back home. And this is our appeal to the international community.
