Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei took to social media on Wednesday and accused the US and "some European countries" on tensions in the Middle East, promising that the day will come when Iran will eliminate its "enemies in the region".
In a series of X posts, the Iranian leader stated that the "root" of the wars in the region lies in the presence of "those who stand for peace".
"If the malice of the US and some European countries is removed from this region, undoubtedly these conflicts and wars will be completely eliminated. Then the countries of the region can live together in peace, health and prosperity."
"We hope that with God's help, the persistent efforts of the Iranian people, the inspiration drawn from the Islamic Revolution, and cooperation with other nations, we will eliminate our enemies from the region."
Khamenei's remarks come a day after Tehran's missile attack on Israel, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a "big mistake," adding that the army would definitely respond.
France announced on Wednesday that it had mobilized its military forces in the Middle East to counter the threat from Iran after Tehran fired ballistic missiles at Israel. At the same time, Germany warned that the region faces a serious danger of a full-scale conflict.
UK forces have supported Israel in its attack on Iran. According to the BBC, British fighter jets are again involved, as they were in April, when Iran last attacked Israel with missiles.
John Healy, Britain's defense secretary, said British forces had "played their part in trying to prevent further escalation," but gave no further details.
