Anatoly Antonov has finished his work as Russia's ambassador to the USA and will return to Moscow in the next few hours, the Russian Embassy in Washington informed TASS.
„Today at 15:00 (local time, 22:00 Moscow time) the plane with Anatoly Antonov on board is taking off,”, the diplomatic mission said. Ambassador Antonov arrived in the US capital on August 31, 2017.
Anatoly Antonov was born in 1955, graduated from MGIMO in 1978. In 2004-2011, he headed the Department of Security and Disarmament of the Russian Foreign Ministry. From 2011 to 2016, Antonov was the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia. In December 2016, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
Antonov led the work of the Russian Embassy in the United States during the most difficult period in the history of relations between Moscow and Washington. Recent years have been characterized by an almost unprecedented worsening of bilateral relations.
