President Vladimir Putin via video link launched of the serial production of the Lada Aura car at the AvtoVAZ plant in the Samara region. This happened during a conference on industrial capacities broadcast by the Kremlin press service.
During this meeting, the executive director of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov invited the president to Togliatti to get acquainted with the new developments.
Putin, in turn, said that he had already had time to evaluate the new car.
"I rode the car in the summer, I say without any exaggeration that I liked it," said the head of state.
In the Kremlin materials for the ceremony of the opening of the industrial facilities by the president, which TASS refers to, it is stated that, according to the plan, AvtoVAZ will produce 2.9 thousand Lada Aura business sedans in 2024, and from the following year will increase the production of the model to 8 thousand units per year.
Earlier, in an interview with RBC, Sokolov stated that the price of Lada Aura will exceed 3 million rubles (€28,270).
Aura is based on the Vesta platform and was first officially presented in June 2023 at the exhibition "Eurasia - our home" in Sochi. The car has 25 cm more space for passengers in the back seats, it also has an original interior color and a premium audio system.
