Who hit the Crimean bridge? Russia in absentia indicts head of SBU - 1

Russian investigators in absentia indicted the organization of a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge in the summer of 2023 of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Malyuk, who was arrested in absentia in this case and wanted for other criminal terrorism cases. This was announced by the law enforcement authorities, quoted by TASS.

"The investigation has sufficient grounds to conclude that the participation of Vasily Vasilievich Malyuk in organizing a terrorist act on the Crimean bridge in the summer of 2023 is justified. 205, part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act that led to the death of people)", said the interlocutor of the agency.

According to him, the participation of Malyuk in the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge in 2023 is confirmed by the results of operational-search activities. The head of the SBU may receive life imprisonment on the charges brought against him.

We remind you that on the night of July 17, 2023, two Ukrainian surface drones attacked the Crimean bridge. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case for a terrorist act. As a result of the terrorist attack, two people were killed, a child was injured, and the roadway was damaged. Traffic on the bridge was stopped.

In addition, the Investigative Committee considers Malyuk to be the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge on October 8, 2022. Then a truck was blown up, as a result of which the tanks of a nearby freight train caught fire. Four people died and two sections of the vehicular part of the bridge leading to the peninsula collapsed. The investigation estimated the damage from the bridge explosion at about 7 billion rubles.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwarded to the Ukrainian authorities requests under the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism for the immediate detention and extradition of all persons involved in these terrorist attacks . Among these demands is the arrest of the head of the SBU Malyuk, who admitted that Ukraine organized the bombing of the Crimean bridge in October 2022 and revealed details about the organization of other terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation.

At the end of March this year, the Basman Court of Moscow authorized the arrest in absentia of Vasiliy Malyuk on charges of committing a terrorist attack. The term of his detention is calculated from the moment of his extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation or from the moment of his detention on the territory of Russia. The Moscow City Court recognized the decision of the first instance court as legal. Maluk is also a federal and interstate wanted man.
